■ PA SETUP | LIVE RIG:
■ QSC K8's | K-sub.
■ For any small pub/club solo gigs, I take out my QSC K8's, and sometimes the K-Sub. I've found over the years that the K8's are more than enough for these gigs and it makes loading in/out quicker. Any larger events, like festivals or large shows, I use their PA system.
■ DMX LIGHTING SETUP:
■ Show Buddy | DMXIS
■ All of my lights are fully programmed and automated using Dave Brown's excellent Show Buddy system. This allows me to create the perfect mood for each song.
■ I run several lights and a few moving heads depending on the scale and size of the venue I'm playing at.
■ LIVE AMP RIGS
■ LIVE RIG #1: JMP-1 | FX Rack
■ Mostly, I go direct to PA for all my solo gigs. I've played in front of 30 people, and 5,000 using the exact same JMP-1, and it just sounds great.
■ JMP-1 | FX Settings:
■ An Alesis Midiverb IV adds Delays (435ms) for lead sounds, with some chorus, reverbs for cleans. I also run in mono.
■ I only run 4-patches from the dedicated MPM-4E JMP-1 foot controller.
■ The JMP-1/Midiverb settings are listed as a guide.

■ LIVE RIG #2: JMP-1 Rack & Marshall Valve Stack
■ For band gigs, I take out one of my Marshall 78 heads along with my JMP-1 rack. Marshall modified the heads at the phase splitter to take a preamp in.
■ I prefer Marshall 4x12" speaker cabinets for large band work. Speakers are always Celestion Vintage 30's, but i also like Celestion 25-watt "greenbacks" too.
■ LIVE RIG #3: Fractal FM3
■ Sometimes when I play bigger gigs I take out my Fractal FM3 pedalboard. I had some theatre shows and larger gigs back in June 2024 and made this Fractal pedalboard up. It went direct from two XLRs to front of house and sounded incredible.
■ I switched due to the JMP-1's just being old and starting to wear out. The FM3 is a direct replacement, using the same JMP-1 OD1 amp, and pedals. But it actually sounds better, less noise.

■ PEDALBOARD | SIGNAL CHAIN
■ PEDALBOARD (FOR LIVE RIGS #1 + #2)
■ When I'm using the JMP-1 rig, I need the pedalbaord. When I use the Fractal rig, I don't need anything else. I don't use any overdrive pedals at all. Actually, I don't really use a lot of pedals full stop, lol. Check the pics over the years from 2016 to 2020...
■ I do like to set the amp up for a crunchy rhythm tone, then boost it with a pedal. I've always used some sort of boost for solos. In recent years, I've loved using a compressor to do the job, as opposed to traditional distortion/overdrive pedals.
■ 2016 - Fresh and sparkly.
■ Let's go forward a few years after tons of gigs...
■ 2018 - Grubby Mess. Removed the overdrive pedals.
■ I used the MXR Dynacomp mainly, so the overdrives went.
■ 2020 during lockdown I used my live rig for streaming.
■ In 2022 I switched to Fractal FM3's.
■ SIGNAL CHAIN
■ From left to right: The wireless signal from the Line 6 hits the Polytune, then the Dynacomp, then the Phase 90, then finally the wah. From there it goes straight to the input of the JMP-1. Note: I have to keep the Phase 90 before the wah as it's unbuffered, as per '74 specs.
